6.     Any Church Officer or Board Member shall be subject to immediate suspension from service of this Church for gross moral sin, provided that he (she) is first given due notice and a hearing before the (other members of the Board of Deacons if a Deacon is in question) Board of Deacons with evidence presented as to his (her) guilt or innocence. If upon the examination by the Board, the majority of the Deacons shall determine that the Officer or Board Member is unfit for further service to this Church, he (she) shall be suspended (without pay if a paid position). A special business meeting of the Church shall be called by the Board of Deacons at which time it will make recommendation to the Church for the Church Officer or Board Member’s dismissal. The members of the Church shall (by majority vote at the special business meeting) vote to dismiss or retain the services of the Church Officer or Board Member and no further pay will be accorded the dismissed Church officer or Board Member if a paid position.

ARTICLE V. Voting Procedures

SECTION I.  Voting

No official Church business shall take place at any meeting without a quorum being present. In all meetings of the Church, fifteen (15) active members present shall constitute a quorum; however, should the active membership roll ever fall to fifteen (15) members or fewer, then a quorum shall be considered fifty percent (50%) of those active members. There being a quorum present, a vote of the majority of said active members shall be binding, except as otherwise provided for, as to all questions to be considered at such meetings. All elections shall be by majority of those present, except as otherwise provided for, using secret ballots. All elections and matters requiring a vote shall be voted on only by active members eighteen (18) years of age or older. When the Constitution or Bylaws provide for a vote other than by secret ballot, then any voting member can demand a secret ballot on a question to be voted upon if he (she) feels the need for such action.

SECTION II.  Absentee Voting

Absentee voting will be permitted only when calling a new Pastor.  The Bylaws will establish the method of absentee voting to insure a secret ballot.

ARTICLE VI. Officers

SECTION I.  Church Officers

as listed below shall be elected as provided for in this article.

1.     Except as otherwise provided for, all officers shall be elected at the July quarterly meeting of the Church, for a period of one year. At least three months before the July meeting of the Church, the Church council shall appoint a nomination committee to nominate all officers and committees to be elected at the July meeting. The committee’s report shall be announced at one or more public meetings of the Church at least two weeks in advance of the July meeting.
