CONSTITUTION

ARTICLE I. Name

The name of this Church is and shall be the Vanderhoof Baptist Church of 23305 Moyis Road, Coolville, Ohio 45723.

ARTICLE II. Purpose

The purpose of this Church shall be to maintain public services for the worship of God and for the teaching and preaching of the Gospel, and in general to promote the interests of the Kingdom of God according to the teachings of Christ.

ARTICLE III. Denominational Affiliations

The Church’s government is vested in the body, which composes its membership; but because its parish is worldwide, it recognizes its obligation and privilege to cooperate with other religious bodies having the same general objectives. It shall therefore be affiliated with the Marietta Baptist Association, the Ohio Baptist Convention, and the American Baptist Convention.

ARTICLE IV.  Membership

SECTION 1.  Duties

It shall be the duty of all members to familiarize themselves with the Declaration of Faith, Church Policies, Constitution, Bylaws, and activities of the Church.  Members are further expected to be faithful in their attendance and their support of the Church and its program by willingly and joyfully contributing of their God-allotted time, talents and God-given material gifts to the uplifting of the Church.  Only active Church members are eligible to serve as Church officers, deacons, trustees, committee members, teachers or other important positions within the Church.

SECTION 2.  Dual Membership Prohibited

No member shall be permitted to maintain membership in Vanderhoof Baptist Church and some other church at the same time.

SECTION 3.  The Members of This Church Shall Be:

1.     Such persons as confess Jesus Christ to be their Savior and Lord, and promises to live a Christian life, and have been baptized by immersion.

2.    Those who present letters of dismission and recommendation from other Baptist churches.

3.    Those who have been received by vote of the Church on the presentation of satisfactory proof by self declaration or documentation that they have been baptized members of some other Christian church.
